Decision Day in Duluth....

Time to head to Oz?...

Rambling after Week 9...

Onwards and upwards....that's the goal anyway.  None of the physical type today, but I at least exercised my right as a Duluthian to vote for the leader of our city for the next four years.  Charlie or Donny.....tune in to Denny at 10 to find out who gets to deal with the crazy public that are the 80,000 (and falling) citizens.

How about those Rails.....11-0.  Another great year for Coach Hylla.  Not sure how many games have been played against Esko in the past, but could be a nice rivalry to add for down the road.  Why am I ignoring the fact that the boys are playing in the state q-finals this week?  Well, that's because they have as much chance as the Gophers would have against the Patriots.

Deer season opening weekend was perfect.  Nice weather, not too cold, not too warm.  How'd I do you ask?  Well, I was out there plenty early - apparently our hunting party is so old and set in their ways that they couldn't adjust for the delayed daylight savings shift and still had to eat breakfast at 5:30am.  Neverminding the fact that the sun didn't come up on Saturday till about 8.  So, I was in the woods by about 6:30.  I saw a nice one that morning, but didn't get a shot.  Then, in the afternoon got a poor shot at an even nicer one.  Obviously it turns into a fish story at this point since I didn't get it, but it was a nice 10 pointer.  He's still out there - I'll aim for him next weekend (hopefully with better accuracy).

Sunday I didn't hit the woods (although I did manage to see more and bigger bucks on my morning run than all day Saturday), instead the Carlson guys hit I-35 to see the Vikings get their butts kicked by LT and the Chargers.  Once again proving why I don't bet on pro sports, I predicted a 42-14 SD win.  Boy was I wrong.  Tomlinson looked like crap - actually, the Chargers O-coordinator looked like crap.  They kept pounding LT right at Pat and Kevin.  Not quite sure why, but I would try and get him out in space like the V's did with All Day AP.  And speaking of Adrian.....wow.  On TV he's good.  From 18 rows up in the lower deck, he is amazing.  Fast, strong and with crazy vision.  Some of his cuts are ridiculous.  At least it gives the Vikings fans something to cheer about - well, other than the guy sitting a couple rows up that was either related to or in love with Brooks cause when Jackson went down, he was cheering really loud - which is ok I guess after he gets up, but this was when he was still down and not moving.

Before my battery goes dead, lets focus on the BIG for a little bit since I think I've skipped it the last couple weeks.....

We're heading into the 2nd round of divisional play, and just about everyone is still in it.  Well, everyone except Ben and Suomala.  They're both at 1-8.  At this point they are pretty much just throwing monkey wrenches.  I'm not sure if Suomala's team is good enough to hit something but Ben's team can definitely stick that wrench into someone's plans.

In the Bison Division, Mike got a magical win after McNair couldn't get Ben 4 points on Monday night.  Your's truly won another weird one, this week with Rothlisberger throwing 5 TD's in the first half and Jamal Lewis running for 4 TD's.  Jugs lost another one to drop 2 games back, but gets a shot at Mike this week to make up a game.

The Huskies have Jonny's team - soon to be renamed "The AP" for the next five years - 2 games up on Ben and 2 games back of our league's super-sophs Kinger and WoJo.  Scottie's team has been nice and consistent, but I'd be scared of Kinger's team if he can ever get his 2 stud WR's back on the field.

Finally....the Bulldogs are all in it still....the question is, is this Smith's year?  He broke the all time single week scoring record by A LOT yet still finds himself 2 games back of Rolling Greens alum Juice.  Stuck in the middle are the JC's Jason and Jon at 5-4 - Jason on the way down, Jon on the way up.  My money is still on Smith, but he still has some tough matchups left on the schedule.

I think it is time for the first....."If the playoffs were today-ay-ay-ay"

Bulldog Champ - Team Juice 6-3
Husky Champ - wIZards 5-4
Bison Champ - Sailors 7-2
Wildcard - Air JC 7-2
Golden Toilet - Your Flying Hellfish 1-8

Finally....I hope only for a mayor the good old man behind the curtain could be proud of....some courage, heart and brains.

Need I say more?
