The NFL and KLEZ?

And what they have in common as far as I'm concerned

From the virus riddled notebook of your commish.  Wednesday September 18, 2002 10:47 PM

Well, I must have "caught up" with the transition from the working life back to the college life since I have a few extra minutes and I'm going to use that time to study....um well maybe after I finish putting together the first draft of my new column for the year.  I don't know what I'll call it, it's going to be a little bit Sports Guy (espn.com page 2, excellent sports writer) mixed with some MMQB (Monday morning quarterback - done by Chris Long - excellent sports journalist) and a hint of The Life of Reilly (cnnsi.com).  The noticeable difference will be that the extent of my journalistic training is one year under the tutelage of Mr. Uncle Phil Johnson and all my comedic experience is care of either The Simpson's or Seinfeld.

In a way I felt sorry for Doug Brien, up until I heard somewhere that he makes over $1,000,000 to attempt XP's

I really need a new computer.  You guys out there are reading this and it looks like any other document, but if you could see how slow my computer runs i t w o u l d  r  e  a  d   m  o  r  e   l    i    k    e      t    h      i     s    .

Note to Red McCombs, slide a clause in that $600,000+ Gary Anderson contract that says something about making the XP's

I'm guessing Mike Martz doesn't have Kurt Warner or Torry Holt on his fantasy team this year.

A 102 year old theatre, a museum full of copper, pasties for lunch and a tour 450 feet underground in a old mine shaft.....that's how I spent last Saturday.

September 18th is an excellent time to be in Houghton, Michigan.  Don't ask me what it's like in about 60 days.

Here's a solution for the Vikings defensive problems....hire George "W". as defensive coordinator and tell him we're playing against Saddam's team every week.

A big bag of pretzels, a gallon of OJ and three straight NFL games......that's how I spent last Sunday.

It's too bad that those "games" were Lions/Panthers, Vikings/Bills and Pittsburgh getting smoked.

Next year we need to expand the BIGFFBL, I propose we add the great football minds of our day -- Denny Green, Matt Millen, Marty Mohrningwig and whoever the hell is the GM for the Bengals.

Lions vs. Packers this weekend.....oh wait, you guys care more about the WNBA then that game.  I promise that will be the only reference to the "professional" "sport" of "women's" "basketball" ever in this column.  (You should be getting the picture of Bennett Brower in your head when you read that last sentence.  If you don't know who Bennett Brower is you need to brush up on your classic SNL)

Speaking of......what's coming to the sport of professional MEN'S golf?  I coulda swore I read that a chick qualified for one of the real money paying upcoming tour events.  Come on Jugs, you could beat any girl right handed, get out there and qualify.

If you haven't been able to tell, I spend much of the day roaming the net and it's greatest news sites (espn, cnnsi, cbssportsline, yahoo sports, fftoday, fantasy asylum, etc.) to keep myself an informed American.  I think you should do the same, according to a story I read today, somehow by being "alert" net surfers will help stop terrorism.  Yea, my reading up on whether to start Amani Toomer or Troy Brown next week is going to keep the Saudi's from flying planes into the 85th floor of the WTC.

Hot/Not.......Panthers/Vikings..........Easy Mac/Ramen...........Homer Hanky/Bud Selig

Some of you real sports fans (meaning those of you with no lives who watch SportsCenter every morning like me - yea I know you do if you're still reading this nonsense) may have seen Paul LoDuca's absolutely unbelievable catch from last night's game.  That was the least regard for one's own personal safety I've seen since that Jugs/Megan incident of a few years ago.

Speaking of tough dudes....Jimmy Kleinsasser broke his leg last Sunday.  Yea, big deal you say.  He broke it in the first half.  Still not impressed?  He not only played in the fourth quarter and OT, but made a catch or two in that time also.  And you know what, he is paid LESS than Doug Brien

Sounds like the sports radio in the cities is absolutely awesome (if anything is dripping with sarcasm this is it), Wong tells me KFAN had Vikings long snapping guru Mike Morris on this morning talking about the intricate details of long snapping.  Now that's gonna get the ratings up.  Boy are we missing out. (by "we" I mean all of us in Duluth/Superior and Houghton without sports radio, and by "missing out" I mean lucky)

Note to self.....use cheatsheet from this year for next year's draft.  Hell, just put on a blindfold and use a dartboard.

Hot/Not.........Triple J/Air JC.........Smitty/Air JC.........LRH/Air JC.........Everyone/GOO

NFL and KLEZ you ask?  They're both making me sick......my fantasy teams are 1-5 and my computer has some kind of virus (which I've got fixed for now).  I gotta keep away from those special sites, you know the ones that give you the eSTD's.....actually if I knew where it came from I'd send some of the rabid Yoopers after whoever is responsible, but just like everything else it's probably just Doug Brien's fault.

How about those TWINS.  Touch em all boys, we'll see you in October.

7 1/2....I think.  That would be about my hat size.  My birthday is Saturday so someone get me a damn cheesehead cause I really really really really am getting sick of the Vikes.

GO RAILS........Beat the Broncos........7pm Friday at Egerdahl Field - Be there.
