STAR TRIBUNE
DULUTH - The Little Bastards, without the services of RBs Fred Taylor and Brian
Westbrook, beat Wong's LD's 100-92 to win the BIGFFBL Championship. It is the
2nd time the LB's have won the Terry Egerdahl Trophy.
"Even without Fred and Brian, we were still able to whip that sorry excuse for a
team." said LB's coach Jon Carlson. "I'm proud of this moment because it proves
who clearly had the best team."
The LB's were lead by the performances of WR Mushin Muhammad and TE Tony
Gonzalez, who combined for 66 points.
"We know without Fred and Brian playing we needed others to step up and
fortunately we did that," said Gonzalez.
The LD's, who are now 2-3 in BIG Bowls, were led by WR Donald Driver, with 33
points.
"We had our opportunities but we didn't capitalize." said LD's coach Eric Wong.
"I told this team each one of us is responsible for the decisions we make and
have to deal with the consequences. Well, the fault of this loss is entirely my
own."
"Frankly, I don't know what happened," said QB Kerry Collins. "We were confident
coming in and we just didn't get the job done."
The LD's 3 BIG Bowl losses have come against each one of the Carlson brothers. A
concidence that Wong does not like to talk about.
"I've been told that they can't pour concrete slabs evenly. But when I'm facing
them I somehow get stuck," Wong said.
Much speculation still surrounds the future of the LD's. Wong would only say
he'll have an announcement in the next few days.
"I think Mr. Carlson and his team should have time to enjoy this moment. I know
most have rooted against us because we probably didn't have the best team and we
surpassed expectations. But I think making big announcements is not proper at
this time."
