Wong says, "This is it".

STAR TRIBUNE

MINNEAPOLIS - Wong's LD's coach Eric Wong announced Sunday that while this upcoming season will be his 8th, it will also be his last.

"Like U.S. Presidents, 8 years is enough," said Wong. "I think this is in the best interest of everybody involved: the Commissioner, the other owners, and myself.

Wong has a 55-42-1 regular season record through 7 seasons. His LD's have made a league high 6 playoff appearences and have won two BIGFFBL titles.

While a few of the owners said this announcement was unsuspected, they didn't necessarily say it was a sad moment either.

"It'll be nice to know that the LD's have no shot of winning the BIGFFBL Championship based on sheer luck," said one owner who's name he did not want disclosed. "He never had a good team, but his team always some way of snaking it's way to the playoffs and sometimes winning the title."

Former and current players on Wong's LD's have a different view.

"Coach Wong has always treated me with respect," said RB Corey Dillion. "Respect I never got in Cincy. For that, I respect him."

"I know coach has thought about this decision for awhile," said WR Terrell Owens. "I just hope his last season will be championship caliber. That is if I'm brought back."

Asked if he was simply bitter about how last season ended, Wong said "what should I be bitter about? I have been in the playoffs 6 out of 7 years. I think more than a couple of my peers would want that track record. I just think this is the right time to make this decision."

Asked about predictions for next season, Wong said, "well, at the end of it I'll simply quote Al Gore and say, 'it's time for me to go."
