Christmas Time?....Already?...From the healthy, Norton virus protected notebook of your commish. Tuesday November 28th, 2006 4:15 PM Rambling after Week 12... Let's get right to it.....IF THE PLAYOFFS WERE TODAY Bulldog Champs - Juice (10-2) As far as the first 7 -- Tang, Soo-peer-eee-orrr, LBs, Kinger, Horse, Scottie and Nookie - Nookie is leading his crappy, crappy division. Scottie and Kinger are on Ben's heels and have a chance at the division. Jason is dead on track for his 7-7 again. The LB's are barely keeping their nose above water and avoiding the Gold Throne. As for our defending champ - there will be no repeat this year. Jugsie has been officially eliminated from playoff contention as of this week. Now the rest. Sailors - Hellfish - Air JC - Pigeons - Team Dirty Mouth I'd expect our 2007 Champ to emerge from this group. Who is the most likely contender?
Some quick hit notes from the NFL and life this week.... I attended the Vikings game on Sunday. Now, I've been to quite a few 'Dome games in my days, but this was the most odd game out of them all. From the 99-yard kickoff return to the final incompletion in the direction of Larry Fitz, it was a good one. I found it interesting that the Cardinals chose not to run the ball with Edge, yet the Vikings D-line could not get a pass rush on Leinert at all. Matt Leinert is way better than I thought. He doesn't have a great deep ball, but his 20 or less stuff is dead on. Larry Fitzgerald is by far the best WR I've seen in person -- and I've seen Randy Moss a bunch of times. I'm not kidding - the guy is ridiculously good. Anquan Boldin is overrated. He's a stat guy - a product of the current evolution of the NFL. Big target for a passing offense. Nothing overly athletic or special about him in my estimation. Good hands - don't get me wrong there - and some quickness, but nothing special. Brad Johnson - his arm isn't as bad as I thought....it just might be the playcalling. He put the ball right on the money towards Williamson down the field. Sure, Troy would probably drop a newborn baby, but that's another story. Chester runs damn hard. I'm surprised the Ravens didn't try to keep him. One of the best parts of being at a game is watching the off field action. (yes the cheerleaders too) I watched Neil Rackers walk around a lot bouncing a football off the turf and practice kicking. What a lonely job....no one really talked to him at all. He missed the 41 yarder and came off the field and threw his helmet and then went back and kicked about 4 dozen times into the practice net. I caught one of those tee-shirts they shoot up into the crowd between plays - I didn't see it that night, but I'm just guessing I made SportsCenter for the grab I made. December already this week.....time is flying. No snow on the ground yet in Duluth, but we did have what seemed like 3 or 4 inches of rain today. Looking forward to Vegas in about 5 weeks....anyone who wants to meet me at centerstage of the Bellagio - that's where you can find me on the evenings of January 3rd through the 5th. Boston Legal is on....that means I'm signing off. See ya next week. Need I say more? BIGFFBL senior writer Jeremy Carlson sounds off whenever he feels like it on www.bigffbl.com |
