Rambling after Week 6...

This weather stinks.  Not fun.  Some of the best days of the year are getting wasted.  I suppose as soon as it gets cold, then the clouds will go away so we don't get snow and can't snowmobile.  Lucky us.

Anyways....how about those Rockies?  Winning 21 out of 22 is pretty good.  Doing it to clinch a postseason spot and head to the World Series is crazy.

Another crazy performance - Adrian Peterson and Devin Hester.  Almost seemed like that game was one of those PS2 Madden games where all the TD's are at least 50 yards.  AP and Hester both have all the buttons figured out - from triangle to square to L1 and R1.

A day closer to Vegas - maybe that's my glass half full thought for the day.  (although that means a day closer to the Vegas half-marathon...which I'm not ready for yet...glass half empty there)  Should be a good trip - Allegiant direct from DLH on Friday, fountains and whatnot on Saturday, run on Sunday, back on Monday.  Last weekend in November.  Not that far away.

Sign of the day that summer is over - the dock at my parent's cabin is being pulled out of old Caribou Lake today.  Sure it didn't see any boats tied up to it this year, and yea, it might not have gone in till July, but hey....damn, I forgot the good reasoning for having it in there.

Last Friday, myself, Scottie, Bug and Ben ran the sticks for the Proctor/Cloquet game at the Egerdahl.  Never done it before.....and had a good time.  I personally had the down marker, so got to be on the line of scrimmage for all the plays and BS with whatever the ref on the sideline is called (we'll call him Gus).  Got him to laugh though....'Gus' turns and says, "you guys know what to do with the sticks if the play comes this way, right?"  I say, "we play it like Braveheart, right?  hold....hold....hold........now".

The game was amazing....didn't quite seem like a Hylla offense to see the boys throw for 5 tds - especially considering it was the backup QB running the show.  The kid does have a good arm though - shaky on the first few, as can be expected I guess, but dead on for the second half.  And I'd be wrong to not mention the O-line.  They gave him a ton of time back there....heck of a job by all.

The other interesting note from being so close to the sidelines again was getting to hear the sideline chants and yells....from the Lumberjacks.  Lots of "kill 'em" and "dee-fense" calls, but the best was in the 4th quarter with PHS driving toward the go-ahead score.  One kid trying to rally the troops said, "come on guys, I've been losing to these guys for three years".  I leaned over to Bug and said, "they've been losing to us for a heck of a lot longer than that."

On to the B-I-G.

Week 6 brought another six teams on byes and with a bunch of injuries out there, some BIG teams (along with NFL teams....ahem, St Louie, ahem) were hurting.  Others, seem to have no issues, and in fact have players putting up 20 or 30+ on their bench.  Not the norm though.....  For example - I had 10 zeros on my team this week.  That's out of 17 total roster spots remember.  Jason had 8, Ben only had 7, Smith and Jon had 6.  Some of that is byes, some injuries and some are just backups (or 'handcuffs').  Anyway, if not for all the 30+ guys this week (TJ 34, Jones-Drew 33, Gonzo 31, LT 47, Derek Anderson 34, Steve Smith 30, Welker 35, AP 41, Brady 45), the league would have been pretty pathetic.

Week 7 brings the final week of the first round of divisional play.  In the Bulldog.....high scoring Smith meets up with Juice.  League high scorer Little Bastards go up against Jason's Little Red Horse.  Since I'm cutting this short....I'm looking for Smith to take down Juice and the LB's to easily knock off the LRH.

The Husky will have Division leader Kinger against Scottie in a big game.  Jonny gets his chance to beat up on Ben.  Scottie/King should be a good one.....I'll lean towards Jack who might see the return of one, if not both, of his stud WR's.  Jonny and AP should hammer on Ben, but remember, no one has ever gone winless in our league, so someone is bound to lose to him.

Finally....the Bison.  Mike makes it through another week - I think the 70-whatever Dolphins are getting a little worried.  This week Mike can take a commanding lead by beating JC.  Jugs is in another must win against Suomala.  Who will win first....Ben or Suomala.....or will they both be 0-fer going into their week 8 matchup?  I'm voting for the latter there.  Jugs will win another - thanks to Witten.  And no tempting fate here....Mike will remain undefeated for another week.

Time to sign 'er off.  As Larry might say, "got 'er dun".

Need I say more?
