Movies....And other Dirty things...From the healthy, Norton virus protected notebook of your commish. Tuesday October 3rd, 2007 7:36 PM Rambling after Week 4... No help this week from my groupies, so I'll have to make this all up myself (shouldn't be too hard I guess). To start it off, as one of our vendors said today many, many times....."So, what else is going on?" (This was right after he went out to his car, opened his door, had a 20 ounce bottle fall, looked around and kicked it under his car - yea, nice. way to make a good impression when trying to make a sale. Nothing like a litterbug). Well, what is going on is that the Rails, Packers and Sailors are all undefeated. Did anyone see that coming? Well, yes, no, no in that order I guess. How about the NFL leaders in Passing, Rushing and Receiving Yards? Any guesses? Pretty sure no one got Kitna/Henry/R.Moss correct. How about Favre/Jordan/C.Johnson in 2nd place? All World consensus #1 pick LT? How about 18th in rushing yards so far....behind the likes of Sammy Morris, Derrick Ward and Marshawn Lynch. Tom Brady through 4 games - 95/120/13td/2int and only 3 sacks. That's a rating of 134.7. If I were the republican party, I'd recruit him to headline the ticket in '08. What the heck is going on with the Eagles? They are more of a roller coaster ride than Britney Spears these days. 42 points in the first half against the Lions then give up 12 sacks to the Giants D in an ugly loss. That Westbrook guy just might be the key to that offense - not McSuck. In the BIG....a very low scoring week with only 3 at 100+ in the 10th lowest scoring week ever. Mike wins again to go into the first round of divisional play undefeated. Even without S.Jax, Mike has enough with LaMont Jordan to beat up on WoJo. Mike will meet up with Jugs in week 5. The Super is coming off an asswhooping from Smitty, but on the bright side found another QB on his roster with Daunte's coming out party last week. If Jugs can get some RB points to go with his good WRs, he'll hand Mike his first loss.....and that's where I'd bet my money on this one. In the other Bison matchup, Air JC (knock on wood) gets to face up with the Hellfish (knock on wood) who have had the worst start to a BIG season (knock on wood). Ok, you get the point, I'm attempting to not jinx myself this week by talking about how bad Suomala's team has started out.....(echo..."how bad are they?") Well, after four weeks he's averaged 61. Not good. Also, if you noticed on the JC Lucky page, had Suomala been playing everyone of us each week (44 games possible), he'd have 1 win - meaning in each week so far he's scored the least points....except for one week in which he was the 2nd lowest.....hence the knock on wood. Do I expect the 'Fish to break out of it this week? Sure, why not.....they're playing ME. Up the standings sheet to the Husky D. Kinger has opened up a 2 game lead over Scottie and Jonny with Ben sitting down low with a big O-fer. Jack's squad was looking good...now is looking a bit iffy. Ahman Green, Marvin Harrison and Andre Johnson are a bit banged up....will Jack pull the trigger with Favre to pick up some depth at WR or RB? Hard to say. He'll meet up with the old landlord Ben in week 5. Ben's team, who once again had Joey Harrington on the bench as his top QB, is the old "looks good on paper" team if you ask me. Addai, Henry, Welker, Galloway, Shockey....should be pretty good. So, can they pull the upset this week against an injured Kinger.......the magic 8-ball says...YES. That leaves the baby girl's daddy matchup of the wISSSZZZards and Tang as the other Husky week 5er. This is almost a must win for these teams with Kinger already a couple games up....the loser could be 3 games back. Jonny's 1 win came against the 'Fish.....a 64-53 week 1 barnburner, but he does have a 125 point loss to the LB's in week 3, so there is potential here. The WoJoe's, who have been carried entirely this year (if you can call a 1-3 record being carried) by a Mr. Tom "Be Crazy, Vote" Brady, have little to hang their hat on. Other than I guess possibly the best athlete pound for pound in the NFL - Dallas Clark. A tight end who filled in for Marvin Harrison after he was injured. Not only did he split out to Marvin's usual right side spot.....he forced the Broncos to matchup Champ against him --- and he BEAT HIM. Sick. Ridiculous. Not quite sure what Champ was doing or thinking, but he was beat by a white tight end. Anyways, I'm taking Tang in this matchup.....I think the Vikings will finally realize they need to give AP the ball, big week for the rookie coming up (oh wait, there's a bye week there....let's re-evaluate with the 8 ball....signs are unclear) Damn, flip the coin.....and.....hanging there, up in the sky......then......heads, that means a win for Scottie. How about those slobbery Bulldogs? Well, Smith is only averaging 120+ with a 2-2 record. Come on, no emails/posts about luck yet? Or wait, that usually doesn't happen till mid-October. Smith has four 100+ and losses to division leaders Kinger and Mike. With Romo and Randy playing how they have, there is no reason to think the Fat Pigeons are going to slow down anytime soon. Smith gets Jason this week who has had a couple good weeks and couple bad ones. He is the latest to pull a lucky win over Suomala with a 60's to 40's win in week 4. He'll need many more points to beat Smitty - but he won't find them. Smith will run away with this one by about 40 points. Finally.....Juice vs. the little B. Juice's only loss has come to undefeated Mike (see a pattern here....Mike has beat some good teams so far). Plus, for Denny Crane's namesake, LT hasn't even broken out yet. Juice may have lost the Cadillac, but Clinton and LT should be able to hold their own. On the other side, Jonny lost by 1 to Kinger in a tough loss when he rolled the dice and lost on Westbrook. If Tory Holt and the Rams offense can ever find their way out of the woods, the trio of Holt, Housh and Gonzo may lead the LB's to the playoffs. If Westbrook can stay healthy, I'd say this team (with Vince and Chicago's D) goes to our championship game. This week though.....I'm leaning towards a Juice win.....and a little deeper hole for the LB's to climb out of. Finally....I'm tired, time to quit typing and grab a nice long 8 hour nap. Hump day tomorrow.....and in a mis-construed definition of that (not to mention tying in this week's title), we'll be shooting concrete all over the northland tomorrow. You might just want to stay out of the way. Need I say more? BIGFFBL senior writer Jeremy Carlson sounds off whenever he feels like it on www.bigffbl.com |
