Denny Crane....and Shirley Schmidthole...From the healthy, Norton virus protected notebook of your commish. Tuesday September 19th, 2006 9:11 PM Rambling after Week 2... "Tell me you've never gone to town with a doll." "You want to meet her? She's in the closet." Ahh yes, welcome back to Boston Legal. For those of you who haven't seen it - try it on Tuesday nights. For those of us looking for a new leadoff hitter to fill in for The West Wing, Boston Legal will do. Shatner and Spader are a couple of the best on tv....and the writing is the icing on the cake. As for some football.....Juice, Ben, Scottie, the Vikings and Rails are all sitting undefeated. If you're any of those three, or from Minnesota or not named Jason, you're probably happy in some respect about that. The rest of us have at least notch in the L column - and Jonny, Kinger and Jon C all have 2. Two more weeks to go until the first round of divisional play in the BIG - so get your lineups figured out by then. Does anyone out there think that Bill Maas is possibly a worse football color man than John Madden? I once again think that the television producers of the world will make a ton of money once they figure out how to allow viewers to selectively mute broadcasts. How great would it be to be able to watch Jay Leno and mute Kevin or MNF and mute Madden or The View and mute, well all of them? Anyone in the league smart enough to figure out how to set that up? We'd make millions. Coming up this week.....the wedding of Diana Krajewski, first day of Fall and my 27th birthday. The first - should be good. Never been to a wedding reception at the Proctor Moose before. Think we'll end up at the Powerhouse at some point? Magic 8-ball says --- definitely. The second....well, since it feels like winter outside right now, that must mean it is mid-September in Minnesota. The latter - yea, turning 27 on Thursday. To put that in perspective -- I'll be closer to 35 than 18. Yea, there's some perspective for a person. Quite a sports week between the Twins and Vikings and the rest. Who's the MVP? Morneau, Mauer or Santana? And I'm not talking about the Twins, I'm talking about the American League. Who would have believed that back in April? Morneau is currently at 36/134/.326 - Mauer at 11/79/.343 - Santana leads the AL in 7 pitching categories (W, K, IP, WHIP, BAA, ERA, Win%). Wow. For the Vikings....Longwell is paying dividends already. Chester Taylor is looking pretty good and the defense is playing quite well (although I'd like to either see a little better effort out of Smoot or for him to sew his mouth shut until he actually does something on the field). Random thoughts of the week..... Reggie Bush might be the real thing. Art Shell is probably already working on his resume. The blonde chick on Boston Legal is hot. Monday night's best show is "How I met your mother" (especially when MNF sucked as bad as last night) I'm starting to realize just how many Seinfeld quotes I know off the top of my head. I should have a big deck overlooking Duluth on which I could smoke cigars at the end of the day. If Ben has got that "Shakira" video out of his head - I just put it back in. Bird season is open....I hope to get out at least once. There were two bucks in my back yard when I got home tonight - I need to learn to bowhunt. Some dude was saved by high winds and quick thinking cops from jumping off the high bridge today - and some people believe there is no higher power out there working. Need I say more?
