Rambling after Week 1...

To start out, today marks the 6th anniversary of the Trade Centers falling.  Hard to believe that flag has been flying on our website for almost 2,200 days already.  I know where I was, and I'm sure so do you.

On to football....Week 1 has come and gone.....and what have we learned.  First, that stupid commercial for Super Pepsi where the Cowboys O-coordinator yawns and the players get the play wrong needs to go.  Although, some of the guys in the NFL just might be that dumb I guess.

Randy...meet Tom, Tom...Randy.  Have fun this year.

I'm not quite sure, but I think Bradshaw has less of a chance of taking Jillian home than of his hair growing back.

Speaking of Jillian....for those of you keeping track at home, she is now officially in the MILF category.

I'm kinda excited about the new season of The Office coming up.  Didn't like the show much at first, but can't miss it now.  If only I had a Dwight at my office to screw with.

Suomala.....stay away from the Owen Wilson how to books....I'm sure Brees will show up next week.

John Madden is still out there spewing poo.  I'm staying glass half full though hoping he chokes on one of his turducken meals this fall.

Tomlinson had a bad week and still had 26.  Ok, we get it, he's good.

How 'bout those Vikings.  They looked good.....although, I take it with a slight grain of salt - they were playing Joey Harrington.

Speaking of Joey Heisman.....it might be a good strategy that if your D/ST is up against the Falcons, you start them this year (or at least until the Falcons realize that Joe is not a good option at all to cover for Vick).

Adrian looked pretty darn good.  Even made Tav Jackson look like a NFL quarterback to a point.  I'm slightly optimistic for the Vikings after what I saw this week.

Surprising.....NFC Central.  Vikings, Packers, Lions: 1-0.  Bears: 0-1.  Anomaly, not trend folks.

Biggest upset this weekend if you ask me.....Brettski beating McSuck.  I didn't think the Packers had a chance, but I forgot that McNabb can play very very badly if he tries.  15-33 fits into the very very badly category.  For Jonny.....that's a big ouch.

I have a Michigan Wolverines hat - just to be clear, I'm supporting the basketball team.

Go Rails - Hawks suck.  Hammer remains in Rory's office for another year.  Jason's wallet becomes a smidge lighter.

Check out the National Treasure sequel "Book of Secrets" trailer if you liked the first movie.  http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/nationaltreasure/  And if you haven't seen National Treasure, get over to Blockbuster (or borrow it from my house)....good stuff.

On a related note, if you'd like to become a freemason this fall (and possibly a Shriner after), let me know.  There's opportunity coming up in October at my lodge here in town.  As a sales point, just think of the cool hat you would get.....but never mind about the goat.

A job I wouldn't want....Tom Coughlin's blood pressure checker.  It can't ever be anywhere near a normal range.

And how about that old timer in the Duluth hillside that came home to find a 19 year old intruder in his home.  When I say old timer, I mean about 70.  He didn't just shoo him out of the house, he kicked his ass.....ended up during the struggle ripping the kids clothes off.  All his clothes.  And, the best part, he not only hooked his finger in the kids mouth and pulled hard on his cheek, but he also grabbed and yanked on his frank and beans (to quote Warren from a great 1998 movie).

Next topic, Duluth Mayoral primary is today.  Whom gets my vote?  Good question.  I was debating on getting yard signs for all of the candidates and putting them up.  Then, putting my own sign up stating, "Does it really matter?".  Don't get me wrong, I think it does matter, but no one really gets me overly excited about leading Duluth for the next 4 years out of the lineup.  At the least, it can't be any worse than it currently is......but hey, nothing in government ever surprises me anymore...

Speaking of that - I'll be avoiding all MSP toilet rooms from now on.

On a related note - I'll be avoiding all Idaho Senators from now on.

On a final note - I can't imagine based on all the above stuff that Bin Laden likes us any better now than 6 years ago.

Need I say more?
